Choosing The Home Lift for Your Family

For some families, having elevators or elevators for households are no longer a luxury, but have become a necessity. Family members who are elderly or who have health problems really need a home lift to stay active at home. The elevator is also very helpful for moving heavy items from floor to floor. The question now is, how to choose te right home lift for your family?

There are at least three factors that need to be considered in choosing a home lift for your family: Number of Floors, Type of Need, and Home Readiness.

1.Number of Floors
Generally, a house that uses an elevator is a house with three floors or more. However, nowadays there are many two-story houses that need to be equipped with a home lift. The number of floors is very important to determine the speed of your home lift. Of course, the more floors, the faster your elevator should be able to move.

As an example, the Uola-Volkslift home lift has a maximum vertical speed of 0.4 m/s. This speed is ideal for a house of 3-4 floors. Other elevators with screw technology, for example, have a vertical speed of about 0.15 m/s, ideal for 2 floors houses.

Check with your lift vendor about their lift speed. Also take into account the elevator travel distance, the number of family members who will use the elevator, especially during rush hours, for example in the morning when all family members are getting ready to leave the house for their daily activities.

2.Type of Need
If your home lift is primarily needed to assist those with health problems, it should be able to accommodate a wheelchair, and if possible, with one person behind the wheelchair.

If the main reason for procuring a lift is for the aesthetics of the house, then the choice of the shape of the hoistway and the cabin of the home lift will be very important. You can choose a panoramic cabin (with glass walls), with stainless or gold wall frames, complete with a transparent hoistway that will beautify your home.

Actually, for home lifts, glass doors or glass walls are very needed so that the position of the lift and the passengers inside it can always be easily seen from the outside.

However, if your main reason is to move goods between floors, your home lift can simply use a simple cabin with painting finishes, without glass walls and doors, with a large carrying capacity to suit your needs.

3. Home Readiness
The ideal home lift for both residential buildings (homes) is a traction lift such as the Uola-Volkslift, which we often find in commercial buildings. This type of elevator is simpler to maintain, more technicians can handle it, and the safety system is very standardized and reliable.

However, this kind of lift requires a large enough space and a longer installation time. Therefore, if your house is still under construction or in still planning phase, it is a very good idea to add a hoistway to be filled with this kind of lifts at a later date.

But if your house is already finished, and it’s a little difficult to build a new hoistway, an elevator with technology that allows for quick installation of the lift can be your consideration.

Those are at least three factors that you need to take into account in choosing a home lift for your family. Whatever lift you choose, we are here to help you with a FREE specification consultation for the Uola Volkslift home lift.
